Anonymous vs signed-in projects

Fantasma can start without an account, but browser-only and signed-in projects behave differently. The difference matters before you clear browser data, switch devices, upload images, connect Ghost, or publish.

Browser-only projects

Anonymous projects are stored in the browser. They are useful for trying the builder quickly, but they are tied to that browser profile. Clearing site data, using another device, or losing browser storage can remove the project.

Before wiping browser data, either move the project into your account or download the theme ZIP if it is ready to install in Ghost.

Projects in your account

Signed-in projects are saved to your Fantasma account within your account limits. They autosave, appear in your projects dashboard, and can be opened from other devices.

When you sign in with a browser-only project, Fantasma may show an Unsaved local project notice. Choose Save to cloud in that notice to create a project in your account, or Remove local project to discard the browser-only copy. Saving it to your account is different from shipping the theme: Download ZIP or Publish sends theme files to Ghost.

Signing in also gives Fantasma a secure account context for server-backed features. Pro features require a signed-in account because Fantasma needs to store or run work on behalf of a project.

Examples include project image uploads, connected Ghost preview, and direct publish. If a Pro control is unavailable, check that you are signed in, editing a project from your account, and on the required plan.
